Guwahati Set to Host Key Matches in ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025
Exciting Matches Scheduled in Guwahati
Guwahati, June 16: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled a draft schedule for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, confirming that Guwahati will host several matches. The city was previously announced as a host venue, and the official schedule now details the teams competing at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara.
Guwahati is set to welcome at least four league matches, starting with England facing Bangladesh on October 7 at 3 PM. England will return to the venue on October 11 to take on Sri Lanka, also at 3 PM.
Local fans are particularly eager for the match between India and New Zealand on October 23, which is scheduled to kick off at 3 PM. The final league match in Guwahati will feature England against New Zealand on October 26 at 11 AM.
In a notable development, Guwahati is in the running to host the first semi-final on October 29, contingent on Pakistan not qualifying for the knockout stage. This scenario could allow India to play a second match in the city if they secure a top or fourth position in the league standings and Pakistan does not advance.
The tournament will commence with India facing Sri Lanka on September 30 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Defending champions Australia will begin their title defense against New Zealand on October 1 in Indore. The group stage will run until October 26, featuring two matches on the final day: England vs. New Zealand in Guwahati and India vs. Bangladesh in Bengaluru.
The top four teams from the round-robin phase will advance to the semi-finals on October 29 and 30, with the final scheduled for November 2.
ICC chairman Jay Shah expressed enthusiasm about the schedule, stating, “The confirmation of the schedule only builds further excitement and anticipation for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. With the eight best teams in the women’s game descending on India, alongside incredible venues and what promises to be record-breaking crowds, we are all looking forward to an unforgettable tournament.”
With India playing a crucial league match in Guwahati and a potential semifinal spot at stake, cricket enthusiasts in the Northeast have much to anticipate as world-class women’s cricket returns to the region.
