In a conversation with Netflix Italia, Gunther reflected on the 'Career Killer' label, expressing that it feels surreal to retire such legendary figures. He is scheduled to compete against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship on May 31 at the Clash in Italy event. Gunther remarked, "It feels fantastic. You’ve got to put yourself in my shoes; when I was a teenager, I played video games with those characters, then I find myself in the last match of those guys like John Cena and Goldberg. AJ, I obviously started following later. It’s surreal for a moment, but you kick out of it quickly. You’ve got to be focused in the moment, but it’s great to be the one that can claim I sent them away. It was time to go. I decided when it was time to go." Fans have long desired a showdown between Gunther and Brock Lesnar, with many speculating that a match could lead to Lesnar's retirement. Although Lesnar appeared to step back from wrestling at WrestleMania 42, he later returned for a rematch with Oba Femi. Recently, Lesnar confirmed during an episode of Raw that he remains retired.

This rivalry is set to add more excitement to the upcoming event.
