GT Bowlers Dominate CSK in High-Scoring Encounter

In a stunning display of bowling, the Gujarat Titans (GT) overwhelmed the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with an impressive 89-run victory during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Thursday night in Ahmedabad. The Titans' bowlers, including Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Rashid Khan, each took three wickets, restricting CSK to a mere 140 runs while chasing a target of 230.

Siraj's Early Strikes Shake CSK

As CSK began their chase of 230, openers Sanju Samson and Matthew Short took to the crease. However, Mohammed Siraj made an immediate impact by dismissing Samson for a golden duck on the very first ball.

Siraj continued his assault in his next over, sending skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad back for 16 runs and then removing Urvil Patel without scoring, which brought Kartik Sharma to bat.

Short and Sharma attempted to stabilize the innings with an aggressive approach, but Kagiso Rabada struck in the final over of the powerplay, dismissing Short for 24 and bringing Dewald Brevis to the crease.

Dube's Heroics Fall Short

Sharma, who was looking good, was unfortunately run out for 19, allowing Shivam Dube to enter the game.

Dube launched a fierce attack on the GT bowlers, scoring 47 runs off just 17 balls, including four fours and four sixes. However, Rashid Khan ended his explosive innings in his first over, shifting the momentum firmly in favor of Gujarat.

Following Dube's dismissal, CSK experienced a rapid collapse, losing wickets quickly and being bowled out within three overs. Rashid Khan took two more wickets in his next over, while Kagiso Rabada added two more in the following over to conclude the innings.

GT's Batting Brilliance

Earlier in the match, a century partnership between GT captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, along with a solid half-century from Jos Buttler, propelled GT to a total of 229/4 in their 20 overs.

After being put to bat first by CSK, openers Gill and Sudharsan provided a strong start, hitting boundaries against the pace attack, including three fours from Spencer Johnson in the fourth over.

With four consecutive boundaries from Sudharsan, GT reached 50 runs in just 5.1 overs.

Record-Setting Opening Partnership

Gill reached a milestone of 6,000 runs in T20 cricket with a six against Noor Ahmed at the start of the seventh over. He ended the over with another six, bringing the score to 78 in just seven overs.

Gill achieved his half-century in a mere 23 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes. Sudharsan joined in the fun, hitting a six over deep square leg and a four in the ninth over.

GT crossed the 100-run mark in 9.1 overs, with Gill (62*) and Sudharsan (43*) both unbeaten at the end of 10 overs.

Buttler's Late-Game Flourish

In the 14th over, Sudharsan began with a four, while Buttler added two sixes, helping GT reach 150 runs in 14 overs. By the end of 15 overs, GT stood at 159/1, with Sudharsan (26*) and Buttler (57*) still at the crease.

The duo continued to dominate the CSK bowlers, hitting boundaries against Kamboj, Spencer, and Gurjapneet Singh. Sudharsan finished the 18th over with a series of boundaries, pushing GT past the 200-run mark.

The partnership of 82 runs was broken when Kamboj dismissed Sudharsan for a well-played 84 off 53 balls, which included seven fours and four sixes. GT was then at 207/2 in 18.2 overs.

In the same over, Rahul Tewatia was run out for a duck. Buttler, however, continued to shine, reaching his half-century in just 23 balls, with four boundaries and four sixes.

Mukesh Choudhary then dismissed Washington Sundar for seven runs, caught behind by Urvil Patel. GT concluded their innings at 229/4, with Buttler finishing on 57* from 27 balls, including five fours and four sixes.
