Gujarat Titans Secure Playoff Spot with Dominant Win Over Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025

In the 60th match of IPL 2025, the Gujarat Titans faced off against the Delhi Capitals, emerging victorious and securing their place in the playoffs. With this win, the top three teams for the playoffs have been confirmed, including Gujarat Titans, RCB, and Punjab Kings. A crucial match will determine the final playoff spot between the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.

Held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the match saw Gujarat Titans defeat Delhi Capitals by 10 wickets. Batting first, Delhi posted a total of 199 runs for the loss of three wickets, thanks to a century from KL Rahul, setting a target of 200 runs for GT.

In response, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill led the chase without losing a wicket, making the match one-sided. No Delhi bowler managed to take a wicket. Sudharsan scored an unbeaten 108, while Gill contributed with 93 not out. This marked the first instance in IPL history where a target of 200 runs was chased down without losing a wicket, making Gujarat the first team to achieve this feat. The match featured two players scoring centuries.

With this victory over Delhi, GT has secured their playoff ticket, accumulating 18 points from 12 matches with 9 wins, placing them at the top of the table. RCB and Punjab Kings, who are in second and third place respectively, also qualified for the playoffs, both having 17 points. Earlier, Delhi managed to score 199 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

After losing the toss, DC's start was not ideal. Faf du Plessis fell for 5 in the fourth over to Arshad Khan. KL Rahul, who opened the innings, began slowly but later adopted an aggressive approach. He formed a 90-run partnership with Abhishek Porel (19) for the second wicket, which was ended by Sai Kishore in the 12th over.

Rahul then partnered with captain Axar Patel (25) for 45 runs for the third wicket. Prasidh Krishna trapped Rahul in the 17th over. Rahul also shared an unbeaten 48-run partnership with Tristian Stubbs, helping Delhi reach a solid score. Rahul's innings of 112 runs off 65 balls included 14 fours and 4 sixes, placing him fourth on the list of players with the most centuries in IPL history. Stubbs finished with 21 runs off 10 balls. However, DC's path to the playoffs has become challenging; winning their last two league matches is essential for them to qualify, while losing even one could jeopardize their chances.
