Gujarat Titans' Resurgence in IPL 2026

After a challenging start to the IPL 2026 season with two consecutive losses, the Gujarat Titans (GT) have made a remarkable recovery, securing three straight victories. This impressive turnaround has positioned them in fourth place on the points table. The team's head coach, Ashish Nehra, deserves significant credit for this revival, having previously led the Titans to their inaugural title in 2022, making history as the first Indian coach to achieve this feat.

Harbhajan Singh Praises Nehra's Coaching Approach

During an appearance on JioHotstar's 'Champions Waali Commentary', former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh likened Nehra's coaching style to that of a football coach, emphasizing his boundless energy and constant communication with players. Singh remarked, "Ashish Nehra creates a welcoming atmosphere wherever he goes. He ensures that everyone around him feels comfortable. He is one of the most genuine individuals you could meet. Being around him guarantees a good experience. His primary contribution to the Gujarat Titans is fostering unity among the team. Nehra is akin to a football coach; he is always on the move, engaging with players throughout the match. His deep understanding of the game and the work he has done with the Titans is truly commendable."

Titans Triumph Over KKR

In their latest match, the Gujarat Titans faced off against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), led by Ajinkya Rahane. KKR struggled early, finding themselves at 32-3 within four overs. However, Cameron Green partnered with Rovman Powell, who scored 27 runs, to form a 55-run partnership, followed by a 60-run collaboration with Anukul Roy. Green's impressive 79 runs off 55 balls helped KKR reach a total of 180 runs, a challenging target given their early struggles.

The Titans, driven by captain Shubman Gill's stellar 86 runs, successfully chased down KKR's score with two balls to spare and five wickets in hand, handing KKR their fifth consecutive defeat in IPL 2026. Kagiso Rabada's outstanding bowling performance, with figures of 3/29 in four overs, was pivotal for GT in this match.

Current Standings and NRR Analysis

Following their recent victory, the Gujarat Titans now occupy the fourth position in the points table. Despite their three-match winning streak, their Net Run Rate (NRR) is only marginally above zero. In contrast, several other teams have significantly higher NRRs, with the Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru leading the table with NRRs exceeding +1.

Upcoming Match

The Gujarat Titans, under the leadership of Shubman Gill, are set to face the Mumbai Indians in their next match, scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on Monday.
