Glenn Phillips' Injury Forces Him Out of IPL 2025

Gujarat Titans' Glenn Phillips Out of IPL 2025 Due to Injury: What’s Next for the Team?

New Delhi: Glenn Phillips, the all-rounder for Gujarat Titans, will be sidelined for the remainder of IPL 2025 due to a groin injury he sustained during a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6. The Titans secured a victory in that game, winning by seven wickets.

Phillips was brought in as a substitute fielder during the final over of the powerplay but unfortunately injured his groin while attempting to throw the ball to the wicketkeeper. He required assistance to leave the field after receiving immediate medical attention.

In a statement released on Saturday, the franchise expressed their wishes for Phillips' swift recovery. The New Zealand player was acquired by the Titans during last year's mega auction for his base price of Rs 2 crore but had yet to participate in any matches for the team in IPL 2025 before his injury.

Currently, there is no information regarding who will replace Phillips in the squad. The Titans, who were crowned champions in IPL 2022, are also missing fast bowler Kagiso Rabada, who has returned to South Africa for personal reasons.

The Titans' overseas player roster now includes England's wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler, West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford, South African fast-bowler Gerald Coetzee, and Afghanistan's bowling all-rounders Rashid Khan and Karim Janat.

Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans are currently leading the points table with four wins and one loss in their first five matches of IPL 2025. Their upcoming match is against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium on Saturday afternoon, followed by a home game against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 19.
