Gujarat Giants Prepare for PKL Season

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 17: As the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season approaches, the Gujarat Giants have initiated a fitness camp for their players. Following a successful player auction in Panchkula, where they secured last season's Most Valuable Player, Mohamamdreza Shadloui, the team is gearing up for the upcoming challenges.

Among those attending the camp were head coach Jaivir Sharma, along with players Himanshu Jaglan and Rakesh Sungroya, who engaged with the media during the event.

Jaivir Sharma emphasized the importance of teamwork in kabaddi, stating, “Kabaddi is a team sport and it requires an equal amount of teamwork from all players. This is my motto for the team as we build up towards a new season,” as reported by a Gujarat Titans release.

The Gujarat Giants are banking on a youthful and skilled roster that holds significant promise. Sharma noted that the current squad aligns with the team's aspirations and the success they achieved in their early seasons in Panchkula, where they reached back-to-back finals with a young lineup.

Reflecting on their inaugural season, Sharma remarked, “PKL Season 5 was our first season. At that time, Gujarat Giants had a young squad and most of the players were coming to the league for the first time. So, there was excitement within the new squad to make the most of the platform they’ve been given.”

He further added, “Our squad this season is made with the same mindset. We’ve got a talented group of young players who have a lot of potential. So, we have chosen players according to our requirements. Now we have taken bold steps to make big strides.”

Rakesh Sungroya, a member of the Gujarat Giants since 2021, also shared his insights ahead of the training camp. He stated, “We have a fitness camp going on at the moment. The main camp will start from the 25th of this month. We will work hard and leave no stone unturned in our preparations ahead of the new season.”
