Graeme Smith, the former captain of South Africa and current commissioner of the SA20 league, shared heartfelt Diwali wishes on social media. The Diwali festivities commenced with Dhanteras on November 6, followed by Choti Diwali on November 7. The main celebration, including Lakshmi Puja, is scheduled for November 8, with Govardhan Puja on November 10 and Bhai Dooj on November 11. On the official SA20 Instagram account, Smith expressed, "Wishing our cricket family a joyful Diwali. Launch of SA20 Season 5 Campaign
The SA20 league recently unveiled its campaign for the fifth season on Thursday, generating excitement for this significant edition of South Africa's leading T20 league, which will run from January 17 to February 21, 2027. The festivities will kick off at St George’s Park, where the three-time champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, will face the Pretoria Capitals in a rematch of last season's final on January 17 in Gqeberha.
Tournament Schedule and Ticket Details
The summer cricket festival in South Africa will move across various cities including Paarl, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, and Johannesburg, featuring an exciting opening week. Mondays will be designated as rest days, while weekends will host double-header matches, providing fans with a full day of cricket and entertainment.
As part of the Season 5 launch, tickets are now available, starting at just $3 for frenzy tickets for all opening matches and select fixtures. Tickets for the playoffs and the final on February 21 can also be purchased. Fans can buy tickets online at www.SA20.co.za, and stadium ticket offices will open on November 15, 2026.
Season 5 Kickoff
The fifth season of SA20 will commence on Sunday, January 17, at St George's Park, featuring the defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape against the Pretoria Capitals in a repeat of last season's final. The tournament will conclude with the final match at Newlands on February 21.
