Glenn Maxwell Bids Farewell to ODI Cricket
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has officially announced his retirement from One Day Internationals (ODIs), concluding a remarkable 13-year journey in the 50-over format. The cricket community has been quick to express their admiration for his contributions to the game.
Among those celebrating his career is his wife, Vini Raman, who shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, stating, "An extraordinary ODI career. Forever my (star)."
Despite stepping away from ODIs, Maxwell will remain active in T20 Internationals. He aims to concentrate on his preparations for the upcoming 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka, as well as his commitments in the Big Bash League and other global tournaments.
Cricket Australia released a statement confirming Maxwell's decision, highlighting his focus on leading Australia in the T20 World Cup next year. Throughout his ODI career, Maxwell accumulated 3,990 runs with an impressive average of 33.81, including a top score of 201*. He also claimed 77 wickets, showcasing his all-round capabilities.
