Residents of Glasgow were taken aback when they spotted a massive dragon soaring over the city. The footage quickly gained traction on social media, leaving many in awe. Crafted by the German aeronautics firm Airstage, the model boasted an impressive wingspan of eight meters and weighed 13 kilograms. It featured 23 moving components, including its wings and tail, which gave it a lifelike appearance. Prior to its appearance in Glasgow, the dragon was also showcased in London.

The upcoming Commonwealth Games in 2026 will be the smallest iteration since 1994, with several sports such as badminton, cricket, hockey, squash, table tennis, triathlon, wrestling, beach volleyball, and rugby sevens excluded from the lineup. Initially set to take place in Australia, the event was relocated to Scotland after the host country withdrew three years prior. However, Scotland has indicated that a full-scale event is unfeasible within the limited timeframe. Approximately 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations are expected to compete across 10 able-bodied and six para sports. India has dispatched a contingent of 125 athletes to Glasgow. In the previous Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, the nation secured fourth place with a total of 61 medals, including 22 golds. However, with the exclusion of several medal-rich sports, the overall tally is expected to decline. Notably, 30 of the 61 medals won in 2022 came from events that will not be featured in CWG 2026.
