Squad Announcement Amidst Injury Challenges

Ghana has officially announced its squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, with head coach Carlos Queiroz facing several last-minute injury issues before finalizing the 26-player roster.

Key Players Missing

The Black Stars are grappling with significant setbacks, including the absence of Mohammed Kudus. The talented midfielder was unable to recover from a thigh injury in time for the tournament. His chances of participating diminished after he sustained a quadriceps injury earlier this year and underwent surgery.

Additionally, defender Mohammed Salisu has been ruled out due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, which he suffered during a Ligue 1 match in January, eliminating any hopes for a swift recovery.

Baba Rahman's Return

On a positive note, Baba Abdul Rahman has made a comeback to the squad. The 31-year-old left-back returns to the national team after a three-year hiatus. Although he was part of Ghana's squad for the 2022 World Cup, he has only made one international appearance since then.

Ghana's World Cup Journey

Ghana's World Cup journey kicks off on June 17 against Panama in Toronto. Following this, they will face England on June 23 and Croatia in their subsequent Group L matches.
