Germany Triumphs Over Ivory Coast

After a commanding 7-1 victory against Curacao in their opening match, Germany entered the game against Ivory Coast with high spirits. However, they faced a tough challenge from a well-organized Ivory Coast defense. Despite dominating possession and creating several scoring opportunities, it was the Elephants who took the lead. In the 30th minute, a cross-turned-shot from Amad Diallo created chaos in the German penalty area, allowing captain Frank Kessie to score.

Germany's first half was further complicated by two disallowed goals, including a remarkable save by Yahia Fofana on a header from Kai Havertz and a corner-kick goal from Aleksandar Pavlovic that was ruled out due to a foul on the goalkeeper. Trailing at halftime, Germany intensified their efforts in the second half but struggled to equalize until they made some substitutions. Their persistence paid off in the 68th minute when Deniz Undav finally found the back of the net.

As the match neared its conclusion, both teams had chances to secure the win. Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra missed a crucial opportunity on a counter-attack in the 88th minute, a mistake that would haunt them. In stoppage time, Felix Nmecha delivered a brilliant pass to Undav just inside the box. The VfB Stuttgart striker skillfully controlled the ball, turned, and scored past a scrambling Fofana, clinching the victory for Germany.
