Gautam Gambhir Updates on Jasprit Bumrah's Status for Final Test Against England
Gautam Gambhir Provides Update on Bumrah's Participation
India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has shared insights regarding Jasprit Bumrah's availability for the fifth and final Test against England.
The Indian team managed to keep the series competitive by achieving a remarkable draw in the fourth Test held at Old Trafford, Manchester. India batted first, accumulating 358 runs, while England responded with a formidable 669 runs, establishing a significant lead of 311 runs.
With over 150 overs left in the match, India found themselves in a precarious position. However, centuries from Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar, along with KL Rahul's near-century of 90 runs, allowed India to secure a memorable draw, finishing at 425/4 when both teams agreed to end the match.
The series finale is set to commence on Thursday, July 31. As this crucial match approaches, attention is once again drawn to Jasprit Bumrah. Recent reports indicate that he was expected to participate in only three Tests during the series as part of his workload management.
Having already played three Tests, it remains uncertain whether he will take part in the upcoming match. Gambhir mentioned during the post-match press conference that the team management has yet to make a definitive decision regarding Bumrah's involvement in the fifth Test.
“No decision has been made if Jasprit Bumrah will be playing the last Test Match or not,” Gambhir stated.
Bumrah's Challenging Performance
While Team India concluded the match on a high note, Jasprit Bumrah's performance was less than stellar. The leading pace bowler had a challenging outing, failing to make a significant impact with the ball. Notably, he recorded a personal milestone that marked the end of his 47-Test streak.
For the first time in his Test career, Bumrah conceded over 100 runs in a single match. In the first innings, he allowed England's batsmen to score heavily, finishing with figures of 112 runs for 2 wickets.
