On Monday, Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian men's cricket team, had a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Gambhir expressed his appreciation for Shah's time and insights, sharing images from their encounter on the social media platform X. India's Jersey for Upcoming Matches
In other news, the Indian men's cricket team will don the BCCI jersey for their historic One-Off T20I match against Japan. A source from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) confirmed on Saturday that the team has also received its official kit for the Asian Games. The source stated, "Team India will wear the BCCI jersey for the match against Japan. The team has received its Asian Games kit for the rest of the tournament, and the issue has been resolved."
The 20th Asian Games are set to take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, with India competing in 36 sports. After winning the Gold medal in the last edition, India will kick off their campaign in the quarter-finals on September 28.
The MYAS source further explained that the match against Japan is a friendly and not part of the Asian Games, which is why the team will wear their regular kit. "The team will play the match against Japan in their normal kit as the match doesn't belong to the Asian Games; it's a friendly match. But for the rest of the tournament, the size issue has been resolved, and they have received their kit for the tournament," the source added.
This clarification comes after concerns regarding the availability and sizing of the official kit for the Indian team ahead of the continental multi-sport event. The Suzuki Cup is scheduled to be held at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture on September 22.
