Head coach Gautam Gambhir has successfully steered Team India to the T20 World Cup 2026 Final, set to take place against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8. This marks a significant moment as Gambhir aims for his second ICC trophy as a head coach, following last year's Champions Trophy victory.

Under Gambhir's leadership, Team India clinched both the Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup last year, maintaining that winning momentum into the T20 World Cup 2026. The defending champions are on the brink of securing back-to-back titles, which would be their third overall in the tournament's history.

During a press conference before the T20 World Cup final, captain Suryakumar Yadav shared insights into Gambhir's coaching philosophy. He emphasized that the coach has shifted the focus away from personal milestones, instead highlighting the significance of team objectives.

"His mantra has always been that in this sport, every player's contribution is crucial. Tournaments are not won by just one or two players," Yadav stated.

He noted that from the beginning of the tournament, every player has made valuable contributions, reinforcing the idea that in a team sport, each player's input is essential.

Gambhir's recognition of each player's efforts is evident, as illustrated by his praise for Shivam Dube's quick boundaries in the Super 8 match against the West Indies, which he deemed as significant as Sanju Samson's impressive 97.

Yadav further highlighted that contributions like Tilak Varma's 21 runs off 7 balls in the semifinal against England are celebrated just as much as a fifty, showcasing Gambhir's team-first mentality.

"In our last game, every run mattered, and that mindset is what Gambhir instills in us," Yadav remarked.
