NRAI Elections Set for December with Gagan Narang's Nomination

In a notable turn of events, Gagan Narang, who clinched a bronze medal at the London Olympics, has officially submitted his nomination for the presidency of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).

The NRAI's general assembly is slated to take place in Zirakpur, Punjab, on December 4, where members will vote for a new executive committee. Narang was among the final candidates to file his nomination papers on the deadline, which was Saturday.

He will compete against the incumbent president, Kalikesh Singh Deo, a member of the BJD and MLA from Bolangir, Odisha. Candidates have until November 25 to withdraw their nominations.

Narang's close associate, Pawan Singh, is set to be elected unopposed as the secretary general, having been the sole candidate for that position. Meanwhile, Ashok Mittal is contesting against Meghasham Sripad Bhangle for the treasurer role.

The upcoming general body meeting on December 4 will also see the election of a new 15-member executive committee, which will include four nominated members (two males and two females). Additionally, voters will select a separate governing body consisting of 25 members.
