Barcelona, Spain - September 1: Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus has officially transferred from Arsenal to Barcelona, with the club confirming that he will don the Blaugrana jersey until June 30, 2029.
As per the announcement from FC Barcelona, Jesus makes his way to the Spanish club after spending four seasons with Arsenal, where he played 123 matches in various competitions, netting 32 goals and assisting 22 times. He initially joined the Gunners from Manchester City in July 2022.
The 29-year-old's tenure at Arsenal was marred by an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained in January 2025, sidelining him until December. Upon his return, he contributed to Arsenal's 2025/26 Premier League triumph, scoring three goals in 14 appearances during that season.
Jesus began his professional journey with Palmeiras in Brazil, making his first-team debut in March 2015. He played a pivotal role in securing the Brazilian Cup in 2015 and the league title in 2016, earning accolades as the best player in the Brazilian league that year.
His impressive performances led to a transfer to Manchester City in 2016, where he spent six successful seasons under Pep Guardiola. During his time at City, he made 236 appearances, scoring 95 goals and providing 45 assists.
While at City, Jesus celebrated four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, four League Cups, and two Community Shields.
On the international stage, Jesus represented Brazil at youth levels before making his senior debut in September 2016. He was part of the squad that clinched gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics, scoring three goals in the tournament.
He also participated in Brazil's squads for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and was a member of the team that won the 2019 Copa America, in addition to featuring in the 2021 Copa America.
Now, Jesus embarks on a new chapter in his career in Spain, officially joining Barcelona on a contract that extends until the end of June 2029.
