The Blue Tigers will take on Jamaica in their opening match of the 2026 Unity Cup at Valley Stadium in Charlton, London. This venue is notable as it serves as the home ground for Championship Club Charlton Athletic, which has a history of competing in the Premier League.
The last encounter between India and Jamaica on English soil occurred in 2002, with both teams having faced off twice. Jamaica emerged victorious in the first match, winning 3-0 at Vicarage Road, while the second match ended in a goalless draw at Molineux Stadium. Since then, these two matches remain the only encounters recorded between the nations.
The Unity Cup also features Nigeria and Zimbabwe, with all four teams having failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In the tournament's opening match, Nigeria triumphed over Zimbabwe with a score of 2-0.
