Guwahati, May 23: Goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari from Guwahati has made a significant mark this season with FC Goa, clinching the prestigious Golden Glove award in the ISL 2026 due to his remarkable performances.
Throughout the season, Hrithik participated in 10 matches, achieving five clean sheets and allowing only seven goals, the lowest among all goalkeepers in the league. His impressive save percentage stood at 78.1.
On Thursday, East Bengal FC was declared the champion of the league. The Golden Boot was awarded to Yourself Ezzejari, while Miguel Figueira, also from East Bengal, took home the Golden Ball.
“I’m thrilled to receive this honor. It serves as a great motivation for me. However, football is a team effort, and my defense and the entire squad deserve recognition for my success,” Hrithik shared from his home in Guwahati.
Despite the challenges and delays faced during the tournament, Hrithik maintained his focus on self-improvement.
“As players, we cannot influence external factors. Therefore, I was committed to training diligently and enhancing my skills whenever possible. The entire team and support staff have been incredibly encouraging,” he remarked.
He expressed gratitude towards goalkeeping coach Marc Gamon and head coach Manolo Marquez for their unwavering support.
FC Goa kicked off the season successfully by defending their Super Cup title, with Hrithik playing a crucial role in that victory. A standout moment for him was in December when FC Goa triumphed over East Bengal in a nail-biting penalty shootout, winning 6-5 in the Super Cup final.
Competing at the continental level also provided Hrithik with invaluable experience. His participation in two AFC Champions League matches against Al-Nassr allowed him to face off against elite players like Sadio Mane and Joao Felix.
Hrithik noted that these experiences bolstered his confidence and kept him in top form throughout the season.
With the Golden Glove accolade now part of his achievements, the 190-cm tall goalkeeper is even more motivated to enhance his skills further.
Additionally, Hrithik has been named in the preliminary 28-member squad for the Unity Cup 2026 by India’s head coach Khalid Jamil.
