Barcelona, May 11: FC Barcelona has been crowned the La Liga champion for the 2025-26 season following a decisive 2-0 victory against Real Madrid at home.
This triumph positions Barcelona a remarkable 14 points ahead of Real Madrid in the league standings, solidifying their dominance over their rivals for the second year in a row.
Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe was unable to participate due to a hamstring injury, while Federico Valverde was also absent following a well-publicized altercation with Aurelien Tchouameni. Additionally, Dean Huijsen was a last-minute withdrawal due to an issue during warm-ups, according to reports.
Ferran Torres played a pivotal role in Barcelona's first-half performance, drawing a foul from Antonio Rudiger in the ninth minute, which set the stage for Marcus Rashford to score with a powerful shot that left goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois with no chance.
Torres extended Barcelona's lead in the 18th minute with a precise finish after receiving a clever backheel pass from Dani Olmo.
Rashford nearly added a third goal before halftime, but Courtois managed to deflect his shot wide, and Olmo's follow-up from the corner also went off target.
