FIFA World Cup Quarterfinal Ticket Prices Plummet Amid Team Exits
Dramatic Drop in Quarterfinal Ticket Prices
Recent data reveals a significant decline in the resale prices for FIFA World Cup quarterfinal tickets. Ahead of the highly anticipated match between Spain and Belgium, prices have dropped to $1,200 from a staggering $2,950. This decline follows the elimination of the USA and Portugal from the tournament, with the USA suffering a 1-4 defeat to Belgium and Portugal losing 1-0 to Spain, marking the end of Cristiano Ronaldo's World Cup journey.
Fans had been eager for a thrilling quarterfinal clash between the USA and Portugal, but that matchup will not occur. The exits of the USA, along with other host nations Canada and Mexico, have dampened local enthusiasm. Canada was eliminated after a 2-0 loss to Morocco, while England knocked Mexico out of the competition.
According to SeatPick, the average resale prices for quarterfinal tickets have plummeted by over 30% in just 24 hours and more than 50% over the past three days. Concurrently, the availability of tickets on the secondary market has surged from approximately 28,000 at the tournament's start to over 49,000 now.
Although ticket prices for the FIFA World Cup semifinals have also seen a slight decrease, they remain high at around $9,000. Future prices may fluctuate based on which teams advance to the semifinals. Currently, France has secured a spot in the semifinals following a strong victory over Morocco. In addition to the Spain vs. Belgium match on Friday, England will face Norway, and Argentina will take on Switzerland in the quarterfinals, both scheduled for July 12. The final match of this prestigious event is set for July 20, with semifinals taking place on July 15 and 16.
