Revitalization of Tihidi Mini Stadium

Tihidi: The mini stadium located near Tihidi Government High School in Bhadrak district is poised for a significant upgrade, with a budget of Rs 14 crore allocated for its renovation, bringing renewed hope to local athletes after years of neglect.

Approximately Rs 30 lakh was invested in the ground's development around 12 years ago, yet it has remained unfit for sports activities. The initial phase included the construction of an entrance gate and a players' lounge, but plans to level the ground were never completed.

Concerns regarding financial mismanagement arose during the previous development phase, with accusations that only minimal work was executed despite the funds spent.

Despite these issues, no actions were taken by the authorities. The once-locked entrance has become overgrown, leading to block- and district-level sporting events being relocated to Kali Padia, situated at Chandrasekhar Ranakar Sahayog High School.

The Sports Department of the state government has now approved Rs 14 crore for the stadium's reconstruction. Local athletes and sports fans have expressed their gratitude towards Higher Education and Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj for this initiative.

Construction is anticipated to commence following the completion of the tendering process.
