Wrestlemania 42: Anticipation Builds

The journey to Wrestlemania 42, taking place on April 18 and 19, commenced with the Royal Rumble 2026, and the event's lineup is beginning to take shape. WWE has confirmed all world championship matches for this premium live event, with additional bouts expected to be announced in the upcoming weeks. The highly anticipated World Heavyweight Championship clash between CM Punk and Roman Reigns is poised to headline the second night of the event. Fans are always on the lookout for surprises at Wrestlemania, and WWE may have some exciting comebacks in store for this year's edition.

Among the potential surprises, three WWE legends are rumored to make a stunning return at Wrestlemania 42:

The Rock could make a dramatic comeback during the main event featuring Roman Reigns and CM Punk. Initially, Reigns and The Rock were set to face off in a dream match at Wrestlemania 40, but plans changed. The WWE Universe might finally witness this showdown at Wrestlemania 43, provided The Rock intervenes and costs Reigns the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 42. It's worth noting that The Rock has not competed in the ring since Wrestlemania 40.

John Cena, who triumphed over Cody Rhodes to claim the Undisputed WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 41, may return to assist Rhodes in defending his title against Randy Orton. Orton turned heel during this week's Smackdown, attacking the champion. As a villain leading into Wrestlemania 42, Orton will pose a significant threat. Cena, who previously aided Cody in winning the championship in 2024, could play a crucial role in helping him retain it this time around. The American Nightmare recently reclaimed the title by defeating Drew McIntyre on Smackdown following the Elimination Chamber 2026.

Paul Heyman was attacked by Seth Rollins upon his return to Monday Night Raw, sidelining him for the time being. However, he might make a comeback at Wrestlemania 42 to support Rollins' opponent. Bron Breakker, who has been out of action since the Royal Rumble, is expected to recover in time for Wrestlemania 42 and face Rollins at this major event. Breakker and Bronson Reed had previously turned against Rollins on Raw after Crown Jewel. If Breakker is unable to compete, Rollins may end up facing Logan Paul or Austin Theory instead.
