Exciting Pickleball Tournament Set to Take Place in Pune
Overview of the Picklebay Zonals – West Tournament
Pune is gearing up for an exhilarating six-day pickleball tournament, the Picklebay Zonals – West, scheduled from March 10 to 15 at Dink in Hinjewadi. This event, sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association as a PWR 700 tournament, boasts a substantial prize pool of ₹15 lakh. With nearly 700 participants anticipated across over 25 categories, this tournament promises to be one of the season's highlights, showcasing players of varying skill levels.
Currently, around 500 registrations have been recorded, indicating the sport's rising popularity in India. The Pro and Open categories have attracted close to 150 entries, while the Advanced division has seen about 100 participants. The Intermediate categories comprise roughly 125 registrations, and Beginners have around 50. Age-group divisions, including the 35+ category, have about 50 entries, with the 50+ category featuring around 25 participants. The Split Age Men’s Doubles event has garnered nearly 30 registrations.
Several prominent players are expected to compete, including Aaliya Ebrahim, Snehal Patil, Shreya Chakraborty, and others in the women's categories. The men's draw will feature athletes such as Arjun Singh, Aditya Singh, and Tejas Gulati, many of whom have previously participated in the inaugural Indian Pickleball League and have experience on the international stage.
In the senior categories, seasoned players like Dhiren Patel and Suryaveer Singh Bhullar will be in action. Additionally, competitors like Vidula Reddy and Khushi Desai are anticipated to showcase their skills after impressive performances in domestic tournaments.
With a significant prize pool and a diverse field of players, the Picklebay Zonals – West tournament is poised to deliver thrilling matches throughout the six-day event. Such tournaments play a crucial role in enhancing India's pickleball landscape by providing competitive platforms and ranking opportunities for players at all levels.
