Punjab's Strong Lineup for Vijay Hazare Trophy
New Delhi: The Punjab cricket team has announced its 18-member squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, featuring notable players such as openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, along with fast bowler Arshdeep Singh.
In addition to these stars, the squad comprises Prabhsimran Singh, Naman Dhir, Anmolpreet Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Sanvir Singh, Harpreet Brar, Gurnoor Brar, and Krish Bhagat.
Having reached the quarterfinals last season, Punjab is placed in Elite Group C and will kick off their tournament against Maharashtra on December 24, with all seven league matches scheduled to take place in Jaipur. The league stage will wrap up on January 8, just three days prior to India's first ODI.
However, the participation of Gill, Abhishek, and Arshdeep is uncertain, as India is set to face New Zealand in three ODIs starting January 11, followed by five T20Is from January 21.
Gill, who was omitted from the T20I squad for the T20 World Cup and the upcoming T20Is against New Zealand, will lead the ODI team, while Abhishek and Arshdeep are included in the T20I lineup.
With a three-week interval between India's last T20I against South Africa on December 19 and the opening ODI against New Zealand on January 11, 2026, players have the opportunity to participate in the domestic 50-over competition for their states.
Previously, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant were named in Delhi's probable list and will be available for the team until the ODI series against New Zealand from January 11 to 17, 2026. Additionally, former captain Rohit Sharma has been included in the Mumbai squad for the initial two matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
