Exciting Matches Mark Opening Day of 15th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship
Thrilling Performances on Day One
The 15th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship kicked off in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, showcasing impressive performances from various teams. Goans Hockey, Hockey Gujarat, and Hockey Mizoram emerged victorious in their Division 'C' matches, while Manipur Hockey, Assam Hockey, Hockey Himachal, and Delhi triumphed in Division 'B' matches, as reported by Hockey India.
In the opening Division 'C' match, Goans Hockey secured a 2-1 win over Jammu & Kashmir, with goals from Prachi Parshuram Yadav (16') and Rubi Rathore (19'). Anjali (34') netted the sole goal for Jammu & Kashmir.
Next, Hockey Gujarat showcased a dominant display against Telangana Hockey, winning 4-1. Dhruviba Parmar (6', 27') and Puriben Parmar (33', 47') each scored twice, while Kancharla Akshaya scored the only goal for Telangana.
Hockey Mizoram delivered a stunning performance, defeating Raj 12-0 in a lopsided match. Captain Lalneihpuii (16', 44', 48') and Z Laldintluangi (16', 20', 39') each scored hat-tricks, with F Lalbiaksiami contributing two goals (12', 35'). Additional goals came from Ruthi Lallawmzuali (60'), Zothanmawii (52'), Lalchhanchhuahi (41'), and C Malsawmzeli (29').
In Division 'B', Manipur Hockey dominated Kerala Hockey with a 5-0 victory, highlighted by a hat-trick from Ritu Devi Laishram (45', 52', 56'). Priya Devi Mutum (9') and Natali Chanu Leishangthem (41') added to the score.
Assam Hockey also triumphed, defeating Le Puducherry Hockey 5-0, with Ashmita Tigga scoring a hat-trick (18', 25', 60'). Captain Sumitra Swargiari (2') and Sagarika Barman (21') contributed the other goals.
Hockey Himachal secured a 6-2 win over Hockey Arunachal, with Khushi Verma (14', 35', 37') scoring a hat-trick and Jyoti (28', 42') adding two more goals. Mitali Sharma (7') also scored for Hockey Himachal, while Birang Hassa (59') and Rabia Khan (55') found the net for Hockey Arunachal.
The final match of the day was a nail-biter, with Delhi edging out the Hockey Association of Bihar 6-3. Nisha (5'), Kumari Priya (8'), Dipika (56'), and Anshika (13', 50', 59') scored for Delhi, while Kumari Sanjana Bharti (6'), Kumari Sharda (36'), and captain Kumari Rishu (48') scored for Bihar.
