Transformative Changes Ahead for PGTI
New Delhi, July 26: Following a thrilling and competitive first half of the 2025 season, the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) is gearing up for an exciting second half. The organization has announced several new partnerships and strengthened existing ones, aiming to enhance the growth of golf across the country.
Among the notable updates for the upcoming season is the introduction of two new venues: Clover Greens Resort and Golf Club in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, and Zion Hills Golf County in Kolar, Karnataka. According to a recent announcement, the Clover Greens Resort will host the INR 1 crore PGTI Players Championship from August 19 to 22, while the Zion Hills Golf Course will feature the inaugural Kolar Open, also with a prize of INR 1 crore, from August 26 to 29.
The second half of the season is set to include at least 15 tournaments from August to December 2025, boasting a total prize pool of INR 17 crore (excluding the DP World India Championship). This brings the overall prize money for the season to over INR 33 crore, not counting the Indian Open and the DP World India Championship.
Compared to the previous year, the prize pool for the second half has increased by INR 3.15 crore, and the number of events has risen from 12 to 15. Overall, the season's prize money is expected to grow by more than INR 8 crore.
The DP World India Championship, a collaborative event between the DP World Tour and PGTI, will take place from October 16 to 19 at the Delhi Golf Club. This championship will be the most lucrative golf event ever held in India, featuring an impressive prize purse of USD 4 million. The tournament will showcase top talent, including global golf star and reigning Masters champion Rory McIlroy, providing significant exposure for Indian golfers.
Another significant update is the revival of the PGTI's second-tier tour, known as PGTI NexGen. So far, five events have been held this season, each with a prize purse of INR 20 lakh. Three additional events, also with INR 20 lakh each, are scheduled for the second half, taking place in Patna, Lucknow, and Bhubaneswar, marking PGTI's debut at the Bhubaneswar Golf Club.
To date, the PGTI has conducted events in 17 states, two Union Territories, and the National Capital Territory of Delhi. With the upcoming NexGen event in Bhubaneswar, the PGTI will expand its reach to 18 states across India.
