Thrilling Matches on Day 3 in Chennai


Chennai: The third day of the Hockey India Masters Cup 2025 saw thrilling performances from Hockey Karnataka and Hockey Himachal in the women's division, while Hockey Andhra Pradesh and the Hockey Association of Odisha celebrated victories in the men's matches.


In the opening women's match, Hockey Karnataka dominated Hockey Maharashtra with a staggering score of 12-0. Prema S. was the star of the game, netting four goals at 4’, 12’, 21’, and 44’. Manasa K.P. also made her mark with a hat-trick, scoring at 29’, 49’, and 51’. Usha Vinaykumar contributed two goals at 2’ and 22’.


Additionally, captain K.K. Krithika (32’), Josephine Lore Sequeira (35’), and Neelamma K.A. (37’) each added a goal to secure a second consecutive win for Hockey Karnataka.


In another women's match, Hockey Himachal triumphed over Kerala Hockey with a score of 4-1. Shalini Kanwar opened the scoring at 3’, followed by goals from Neeta Devi (18’), Anjana Devi (21’), and Pushpa Bhatia (24’). Kerala's Malaialagu managed a consolation goal at 37’.


In the men's category, Hockey Andhra Pradesh edged out Kerala Hockey 4-3. Manikyala Gajula Rao was the standout player, scoring a hat-trick at 13’, 15’, and 59’. Prasanna Gudavalli Kumar also contributed with a goal at 23’.


For Kerala Hockey, Binu C.P. scored twice at 6’ and 34’, while Sayo V.S. added another at 41’, but it wasn't enough to secure a win.


The final match of the day saw the Hockey Association of Odisha defeat Hockey Punjab 5-2. Dharam Pal Singh (17’) and Ram Saran (22’) scored for Hockey Punjab, but Anil Kullu (33’, 37’) netted two goals, with captain Lajrus Barla (18’), Sunil Lakra (30’), and Rajat Kumar Minz (45’) each scoring to clinch the victory.
