Day 2 Highlights of the Championship
Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India] - July 29: The second day of the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championship showcased impressive performances, with teams from Jammu & Kashmir, Hockey Association of Bihar, Hockey Uttarakhand, Hockey Bengal, Hockey Gujarat, and Kerala Hockey all claiming victories in their matches.
The day kicked off with Jammu & Kashmir narrowly defeating Le Puducherry Hockey 1-0 in a Pool A match of Division 'C'. The winning goal was scored by Captain Prabvir Singh Bali in the 53rd minute, securing a hard-fought win for his team.
Next, the Hockey Association of Bihar delivered a stunning performance against Tripura, winning 19-0 in Pool B of Division 'C'. Deepu Vishwakarma set the pace with an early goal in the 3rd minute. Satyam Kumar Pande and Amritanshu Pandey both achieved hat-tricks, contributing significantly to the scoreline, alongside other players like Raj Pandey and Suman Kumar.
In another Pool B match, Hockey Uttarakhand triumphed over Hockey Mizoram with a score of 5-1. Captain Sarthak Mahar opened the scoring, followed by goals from Vikash Kashyap, Saurav Tamta, Ankit, and Manish Singh Kunwar. Mizoram's Captain Joseph Malsawmtluanga managed to score a consolation goal in the 50th minute.
In Division 'B', Hockey Bengal secured a 2-0 victory against Hockey Arunachal, with goals from Munna Kumar Singh and Captain Suvam Patra.
Hockey Gujarat narrowly defeated Chhattisgarh Hockey 2-1, with Alpeshbhai Vala scoring both goals for Gujarat. Aadrsh Raj Singh scored for Chhattisgarh, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome.
Kerala Hockey showcased a strong performance, defeating Hockey Himachal 6-1 in Pool B of Division 'B'. Goals were scored by Rohit Baxla, Nidhin T, Raju Bangari, and Aman Kishor Lakra, while Shivansh scored the lone goal for Himachal.
The final match of the day will see Manipur Hockey face off against Hockey Andhra Pradesh.
