England Announces Squad for Upcoming Test Series Against India
England's 14-Member Squad for India Test Series
The England and Wales Cricket Board has revealed a 14-player squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against India, set to commence at the end of June. Ben Stokes returns as captain, while Jamie Overton is back in the Test lineup.
Previously, Overton played just one Test match three years ago in 2023 against New Zealand. With Gus Atkinson sidelined due to a right hamstring injury sustained during a match against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge, Overton steps in to fill the gap.
The pace attack will feature Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Craig Overton, and Josh Tongue, with Shoaib Bashir being the sole spinner in the squad. Jacob Bethell returns to the Test side after missing the recent one-off match against Zimbabwe.
The squad also includes top-order batsmen Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope, all of whom made significant contributions by scoring centuries in the Zimbabwe Test. Jamie Smith will continue as the wicketkeeper, having held that position in the previous match.
