England's T20I Squad for India Series

New Delhi, June 13: England has revealed a 14-member team for their upcoming T20I series against India, commencing on June 28. The squad sees the much-anticipated return of star spinner Sophie Ecclestone, as reported by the ICC.

Ecclestone, who holds the No.1 and No.4 positions in the ICC Women's ODI and T20I Bowler Rankings, respectively, is back after a brief hiatus from the sport.

Following a commanding 3-0 series victory over the West Indies in both T20I and ODI formats, the England team is filled with confidence and will benefit from her inclusion.

This series marks a promising beginning for Charlotte Edwards as head coach and Nat Sciver-Brunt as captain. Additionally, pacer Lauren Filer returns to the squad after missing the previous series against the West Indies.

Amy Jones, who has been climbing the ICC Women's Player Rankings, is also part of this formidable lineup.

Charlotte Edwards expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming matches against India and the return of Ecclestone, stating, “There were many positives from the West Indies series, but we also have areas to improve. Playing five matches against India in front of large crowds at excellent venues will be beneficial for us. This series is crucial as we prepare for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at home.”

She added, “Having Sophie back is fantastic, and we are eager to have her in the squad. Her skills are invaluable to us.”

However, this means that Sarah Glenn will not be part of the squad. Edwards noted, “We are fortunate to have a strong group of spinners, but we can’t accommodate them all. This is a great chance for Sarah to return to The Blaze and participate in the Vitality Blast.”

England Squad: Em Arlott, Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Alice Capsey, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Amy Jones, Nat Sciver-Brunt (c), Paige Scholfield, Linsey Smith, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Issy Wong.
