Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], December 25: The promising junior badminton players from India, Tanvi Sharma, Rounak Chauhan, and Tanvi Patri, showcased their skills at the Senior National Badminton Championships on Thursday, achieving impressive victories to secure spots in the quarterfinals.
Tanvi Sharma, who recently earned a silver medal at the World Junior Championships, triumphed over the 10th seed Devika Sihag with scores of 21-11, 10-21, 21-10. Meanwhile, Tanvi Patri defeated Parul Choudhary in straight sets, winning 21-14, 21-17 in the women's singles pre-quarterfinals.
Sharma is set to compete against Rakshita Sree, who overcame Sneh Lamba with a score of 21-13, 21-11. Patri will face the seasoned Aakarshi Kashyap, who eliminated third seed Anmol Kharb with a close 21-18, 21-18 victory.
In the men's Round of 16, Rounak Chauhan pulled off a notable upset against sixth seed Lakshya Sharma, winning 21-16, 21-16. Additionally, second seed M Tharun concluded Abhinav Garg's journey in the tournament with a decisive 21-15, 21-5 win.
