Dwayne Bravo's New Role with Trinbago Knight Riders

Dwayne Bravo, who has been a mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders, is set to become the head coach of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the 2025 Caribbean Premier League season. He takes over from Phil Simmons, who recently left to coach the Bangladesh national team.

Bravo has been a significant player in the league since its inception in 2013, participating in 107 matches over 11 seasons and claiming 129 wickets with an impressive economy rate of 8.74. His tenure with TKR has been particularly noteworthy, as he played for the team in 9 out of 11 seasons.

During his time with TKR, Bravo helped secure four championships, while his fifth title came with the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, marking their first-ever win in 2021.

Upon receiving the coaching position, Bravo expressed his gratitude on social media, stating:

"It's an honour to be given the opportunity to be head coach of TKR, a team that’s very close to my heart. I would like to personally thank Coach Phil Simmons for his time and commitment over the last few years, and now I look forward to this new challenge for me and my staff."

Bravo has maintained a close relationship with the Knight Riders franchise, having served as the head coach for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 last year.

Bravo's Coaching Journey and Future Plans

Since retiring from the IPL in 2022, Dwayne Bravo has taken on the role of bowling consultant for the Chennai Super Kings for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He also led Afghanistan to the semi-finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Following a mixed performance in the 2024 CPL, where TKR was eliminated in the Eliminator, the franchise is now looking to Bravo's leadership.

At 40 years old, Bravo is not finished with playing just yet. He will join fellow legends Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard for the West Indies Champions in the World Championship of Legends (WCL), which kicks off on July 18 in England. Their opening match is scheduled for July 19 against the South Africa Champions at Edgbaston. In the last edition, the Caribbean team reached the semi-finals but fell short against Pakistan.
