Trump Celebrates Tyson's Boxing Prowess

During a rally in Syracuse, New York, President Donald Trump humorously acknowledged the intimidating presence of boxing legend Mike Tyson. He reminisced about Tyson's formidable reputation in the ring, stating he would never dare to face him in a fight.

Trump invited Tyson to join him on stage while campaigning for Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman. He reflected on watching Tyson during his peak as the heavyweight champion.

“I see someone in the audience I would never fight, I assure you. I remember when Mike [Tyson] was at his peak, reigning as the heavyweight champion. He would be in the corner, and his team would be holding him back. He was ready to take on anyone,” Trump remarked, as reported by a Media House.

He further noted, “He was indeed a dangerous individual and one of the greatest fighters ever.”

Trump also humorously suggested that Tyson's presence could provide some security for Blakeman, who is running against incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul in the upcoming election.

“I see him standing right next to Bruce Blakeman. If Bruce needs a bit of protection, he’s got the right guy. Bruce knows who to be near,” Trump quipped, according to a Media Channel.

Tyson, who had visited the White House earlier that day, expressed his support for Trump during his time on stage. “Thank you very much. I’m just thrilled to be here with my president, President Trump, and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for a president like Donald Trump. Thank you,” Tyson stated, as reported by a Media House.

As Tyson exited the stage, Trump continued to commend the former champion while joking about his appearance. “I’ve seen him in the ring countless times. He was a frightening figure. I think he looks better now than he did 30 years ago,” Trump joked, adding, “What’s going on, Mike?”

At 60, Tyson is celebrated as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. He made history as the youngest boxer to win a world heavyweight title at just 20 years old and became the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the three-belt era.

Known for his fierce fighting style and knockout ability, Tyson achieved 50 professional wins, with 44 by knockout, before retiring in 2005. His career highlights include victories over notable opponents like Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks, and Frank Bruno.

Trump and Tyson were joined at the rally by Randy Levine, president of the New York Yankees. Trump briefly mentioned the Yankees' recent playoff exit after being swept in the American League Division Series but downplayed its importance given the team's successful history.

This rally in Syracuse was part of Trump's efforts to support Blakeman, who aims to unseat Hochul, the state's governor since August 2021.
