Digvesh Rathi's Remarkable Performance in Empress Cricket League

Following an exhilarating IPL 2025 season with the Lucknow Super Giants, Digvesh Rathi is making headlines once again. A video showcasing his extraordinary feat of taking five wickets in five consecutive deliveries has taken social media by storm. This remarkable achievement took place during the Empress Cricket League on February 21, 2025, just a month before the IPL season commenced.

Rathi, known for his leg-spin bowling, delivered the 15th over while defending a target of 264 runs. Prior to this over, he had already claimed two wickets in his initial three overs. In his final over, he bowled two deceptive deliveries, clean bowling Aniket Dhankar and Pratyush Raj Pandey with the first two balls. He then trapped Nirbhay Dagar LBW on the third delivery, completing a hat-trick.

But Rathi's performance didn't stop there. He continued to dominate in the fourth and fifth overs, dismissing two additional batters, leading to the total collapse of AB Rising. He concluded the match with outstanding figures of 7 wickets for just 28 runs across 4 overs.

A fan recently shared a clip of this incredible over on X, which was subsequently retweeted by the official Lucknow Super Giants account.

In the match, Sahgal Cricket Club (SCC) batted first, scoring 263 runs for 3 wickets in their 20 overs, with Shivam Chaudhary leading the charge with an impressive 98 runs off 42 balls, including 7 fours and 9 sixes. In response, AB Rising could only muster 151 runs, resulting in a defeat by 112 runs.

Rathi is already well-known for his unique 'notebook celebration,' which he frequently showcased during the IPL. Despite facing penalties for it on multiple occasions, fans have embraced his antics. In IPL 2025, he took 14 wickets in 13 matches, averaging 30.64, although LSG failed to reach the playoffs for the second year in a row.
