Dewald Brevis Soars in ICC Rankings After Stunning Century

ICC Rankings Reveal Major Changes

The ICC has recently updated its rankings, showcasing a significant rise for South African batsman Dewald Brevis, aged 22. Brevis made headlines after scoring a remarkable century in the second T20 match against Australia, which propelled him up the rankings by an impressive 80 spots.

In addition to Brevis, Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma also saw a boost in his ranking, gaining one position without playing any matches. This advancement allowed him to surpass former Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

Dewald Brevis's unbeaten innings of 125 runs was pivotal in leading his team to a 53-run victory over Australia in the second T20. Alongside him, 19-year-old Quinton de Kock delivered an outstanding bowling performance, contributing significantly to the team's success.

Brevis Sets New Records

This century marks Brevis's first in T20 internationals and stands as the highest T20 international score achieved by any batsman in Australia. He surpassed Shane Watson's previous record of 124 runs, which was made against India in Sydney in 2016.

Brevis has now become the second-fastest South African to score a century in T20s, and he holds the record for the highest score and the youngest player to achieve a century in this format.

Following this performance, he climbed 80 places in the ICC T20 batting rankings, landing at the 21st position.

Other Notable Rankings Changes

Tim David also made strides in the ICC rankings, moving up six spots to reach 10th place, marking his highest career rating. His teammate Cameron Green similarly advanced six positions, now sitting at 17th, while South African player Tristan Stubbs jumped 12 places to secure the 27th spot.

In the bowling rankings, Kagiso Rabada gained 15 positions, while Lungi Ngidi rose 14 spots, landing at 50th in the ICC T20 bowlers' list.

In the ODI rankings, Rohit Sharma's one-position gain places him second overall. Conversely, Babar Azam slipped to third due to a lackluster performance in the ODI series against the West Indies.
