Dewald Brevis Shines for CSK

Dewald Brevis has emerged as a standout player for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since joining the squad for INR 2.20 crore, stepping in for the injured Gurjapneet Singh. The South African talent showcased his skills with a swift half-century against the Kolkata Knight Riders during CSK's recent match at Eden Gardens on May 7, helping the five-time champions break a four-match losing streak.

On May 9, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was temporarily suspended for a week due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. During this break, several international players, including Brevis, returned home.

The 18th season of this lucrative league is set to resume on Saturday, May 17. Although there have been speculations regarding the absence of some foreign stars in the remaining matches, Brevis confirmed he would be returning to play.

Using his official Instagram account, Brevis announced his return for CSK's last two matches against the Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans, sharing a photo of a CSK team huddle with the caption, "See you soon India."

CSK is currently facing one of its toughest seasons, having been the first team eliminated from this year's tournament. They are at the bottom of the standings with just three wins and nine losses from 12 matches.

Brevis has been a bright spot for the team, accumulating 126 runs in four games, averaging 31.50 with an impressive strike rate of 163.64. He aims to maintain his strong performance in the final two matches to help CSK avoid finishing last in the points table.
