Naamya Kapoor Secures Gold for Delhi
New Delhi [India] - On May 10, 2025, 17-year-old Naamya Kapoor made history by winning Delhi's inaugural gold medal in the shooting category at the Khelo India Youth Games held in Bihar. She triumphed in the 25m Pistol event, narrowly defeating Anjali Bhagwat from Madhya Pradesh in a thrilling final.
The shooting competitions are taking place at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi.
After receiving her gold medal, Naamya expressed her joy, stating, “Winning the gold feels amazing, although I believe I could have performed better in the final,” as reported in a release from the Khelo India Youth Games.
Reflecting on her journey, she mentioned, “This is my third Khelo India Games, and I earned my first bronze in the inaugural edition. I didn’t realize I had brought home the first gold for Delhi in shooting this time!”
Punjab also celebrated success in the Skeet shooting events, with Harazeez Singh Atwal, a bronze medalist from last year, securing gold by scoring 50 points, surpassing his teammate Zorawar Singh Bedi, who earned silver with 48 points.
In the girls' Skeet final, Risham Kaur Guron from Punjab also achieved gold with a score of 50, outpacing Agrima Kanwar from Himachal Pradesh, who scored 47.
The boys' 10m Air Rifle final was a nail-biter, featuring Khelo India athletes Naraen Pranav Vanitha Suresh from Karnataka and Parth Rakesh Mane from Maharashtra. Suresh clinched victory by a slim margin of just one point, finishing with 252.9 against Mane's 251.9, marking their second medal at the event.
After five days of intense shooting competitions, Madhya Pradesh emerged as the leader with a total of 7 medals, including 3 golds, while both Rajasthan and Maharashtra also secured 3 gold medals each.
The final results are as follows:
Boys: 10m Air Rifle: 1. Naraen Pranav Vanitha Suresh (Karnataka) 252.9 points; 2. Parth Mane (Maharashtra) 251.9; 3. Pranav (Haryana) 228.2.
Skeet: 1. Harazeez Singh Atwal (Punjab) 50; 2. Zorawar Singh Bedi (Punjab) 48; 3. Anjaneya Singh (Rajasthan) 36.
Girls: 25m Pistol: 1. Naamya Kapoor (Delhi) 27; 2. Anjali Bhagwat (Madhya Pradesh) 26; 3. Khankvyas (Rajasthan) 19.
