Delhi Prepares for Historic World Para Athletics Championships in 2025

Significant Meeting for Upcoming Championships

On May 10, Vanathi Srinivasan, the National President of the Mahila Morcha BJP and MLA from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, held a meeting with Delhi's Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, at the Delhi Secretariat.

She was joined by a notable delegation from the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), which featured key figures such as Devender Jhanjaria (President), Satyanarayana (Head Coach), Satyababu (Director), and Kirubakarara Raju (Joint Secretary).

The focus of their discussions was on the preparations and strategic planning for the World Para Athletics Championships, set to take place in New Delhi from September to October 2025.

This event will be a groundbreaking occasion as Delhi will welcome athletes from over 100 nations, showcasing India's dedication to inclusive sports under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

Topics covered included the readiness of infrastructure, adherence to accessibility standards, hospitality arrangements, volunteer coordination, and opportunities for cultural showcases during the championships. The Chief Minister assured her full support and cooperation from the Delhi Government to ensure the event's success.

Vanathi Srinivasan praised Delhi's proactive measures and emphasized the importance of this championship in empowering athletes with disabilities on a global platform.

The Paralympic Committee of India, in partnership with the Delhi Government, aims to transform this event into a monumental celebration of courage, sportsmanship, and unity.
