Delhi Capitals Replace Jake Fraser-McGurk with Mustafizur Rahman for IPL 2025

Fraser-McGurk's Departure from IPL 2025
Jake Fraser-McGurk, an Australian top-order batter, will not return to India to rejoin the Delhi Capitals for the remainder of IPL 2025, which is set to resume on May 17. The franchise confirmed this update via a post on X on May 14. In his place, Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been brought back to the team after a two-year hiatus.
Overseas Players Opting Out
Fraser-McGurk is the second international player to withdraw from IPL 2025, following England's Jamie Overton, who is part of the Chennai Super Kings. Overton participated in three matches before the tournament was paused on May 9. Reports indicate that the Delhi Capitals, still in contention for the playoffs, are awaiting confirmations from several of their overseas players, including Australian left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc and South African players Tristan Stubbs and Faf du Plessis. Stubbs is unlikely to join due to the upcoming World Test Championship Final, prompting South African authorities to recall him.
Fraser-McGurk's Performance This Season
Fraser-McGurk was acquired by Delhi Capitals for ₹6 crore during last year's mega auction, following an impressive IPL 2024. However, his performance in IPL 2025 has been disappointing, with only 55 runs scored across six matches, including a mere 38 runs from a single innings. His last game for the team, led by Axar Patel, was on April 16 against the Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Upcoming Matches for Delhi Capitals
The Delhi Capitals are scheduled to play against the Gujarat Titans, the current table leaders, in their 12th league match on Sunday, May 18, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Following that, they will face the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on May 21, and their final league match will be against the Punjab Kings at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 24.
