Heartbreak for Delhi Capitals as IPL 2025 Ends
The IPL 2025 campaign for Delhi Capitals has concluded in disappointment, with co-owner Parth Jindal expressing his regret. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to apologize to fans after the team's playoff aspirations were dashed by a significant 59-run loss to Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on May 21.
In their last encounter against Mumbai, Delhi Capitals struggled, managing only 121 runs while chasing a target of 180 on a challenging Wankhede pitch. This defeat not only eliminated them from playoff contention but also marked their fourth consecutive year without reaching the playoffs. Jindal shared the sentiments of the fans, stating:
“@DelhiCapitals fans – like you I too am reeling from the second half of the season. What started so well ended extremely poorly. There are positives to take from this campaign but for now all focus on the next game which we need to win. Post the season there will need to be a lot of introspection on a lot of aspects.”

Jindal has been a familiar presence at the DC base, often cheering for his team as a passionate fan rather than just a co-owner. Under the leadership of Axar Patel this season, the team started strong, winning four consecutive matches, including notable victories against CSK at Chepauk and RCB at Chinnaswamy. However, their fortunes quickly declined.
From High Hopes to Heartbreak: DC's Season Collapses in Second Half
The decline began with a loss to MI in the reverse fixture, which disrupted the Capitals' momentum. They subsequently faced defeats against Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Kolkata Knight Riders. Even a rain interruption during the match against SRH couldn't alleviate their struggles.
The penultimate blow came at home with a crushing 10-wicket defeat to Gujarat Titans, followed by another heavy loss to Mumbai Indians. Currently, DC has one remaining match in the tournament against Punjab Kings on May 24. After that, the team will head home, aiming to return stronger in 2026.
