Clarification on T Natarajan's Fitness

Hemang Badani, the coach of Delhi Capitals, addressed the reasons behind T Natarajan's absence during the IPL 2025 season. He emphasized that the Tamil Nadu fast bowler was not sidelined due to being dropped, but rather due to fitness issues. While commentating on a match in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025, Badani noted that Natarajan struggled to recover from his injury, which hindered his ability to participate in the tournament.

Investment in Natarajan

“Why would we invest 11 crore in a player and not utilize him? We specifically acquired him for the middle and end overs. Unfortunately, Natarajan was not fully fit after his injury and remained unfit throughout the season, which is why he did not play,” Badani stated.

Delhi Capitals' Performance

The Delhi Capitals concluded their IPL season in fifth place with a total of 15 points. Their hopes for a post-season berth were dashed due to a narrow defeat, leaving both players and fans disappointed. Speculation arose regarding T Natarajan's exclusion from the team following their exit.

T Natarajan's Significant ₹10.75 Crore Deal

During the IPL 2025 mega auction, Delhi Capitals secured Natarajan for a substantial ₹10.75 crore. This acquisition was notable, ranking just behind the purchases of KL Rahul and Mitchell Starc. Given Natarajan's limited appearances, fans and analysts expressed various opinions and questions regarding his role.

Capitals' Strong Start but Disappointing Finish

Under the leadership of Axar Patel, the Delhi Capitals began IPL 2025 with an impressive six victories in their first eight matches, suggesting a potential top-two finish. However, their performance declined significantly after a win in the opening match of the second half of the season.

Natarajan gained recognition for his pivotal role in India's victory over Australia in 2021. However, ongoing injuries and concerns about his playing time have led him to limit his participation in Test matches. Since his Test debut, he has not played in any first-class games.
