Deepti Sharma Achieves Milestone in Women's T20 Cricket
On Friday, India's star all-rounder Deepti Sharma delivered an outstanding performance against Sri Lanka in the third match, claiming three wickets for just 18 runs. This remarkable feat has allowed her to share the record for the most wickets in women's T20 international cricket with Australia's Megan Schutt.
With this achievement, Deepti has now taken a total of 151 wickets in 131 matches, boasting an impressive average of 18.73 and a strike rate of 18.43. In comparison, Schutt reached this milestone in eight fewer matches, with an average of 17.70 and a strike rate of 16.57.
Deepti secured this historic record by dismissing Malsha Shehani in her final over.
With this success, the right-arm off-spinner has also become the third-highest wicket-taker in women's international cricket, amassing a total of 333 international wickets. She now trails only Jhulan Goswami, who leads with 355 wickets, and Katherine Sciver-Brunt, who has 335 wickets.
