Sharma and Wolvaardt Lead Their Respective Rankings
In a significant career milestone, Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma has ascended to the top of the ICC Women's T20I Bowling Rankings for the first time. Meanwhile, South Africa's captain Laura Wolvaardt has reclaimed the No.1 position in the ICC Women's ODI Batting Rankings, as announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday.
Sharma's impressive performance, where she took one wicket for 20 runs in the first T20I of the home series against Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam, allowed her to surpass Australia's Annabel Sutherland by a narrow margin of one rating point, securing her position with a total of 737 points.
Conversely, Wolvaardt showcased her batting prowess by scoring centuries in both the second and third matches of the home series against Ireland, with scores of 124 and an unbeaten 100. This achievement has given her a nine-point advantage over India's Smriti Mandhana, bringing her to a career-high rating of 820 points.
