Fit India Mission Hosts 55th Sundays on Cycle

Vadodara (Gujarat) [India], January 2: The Fit India Mission is set to host the 55th edition of Sundays on Cycle in Vadodara on January 4, featuring the stunning Lukshmi Vilas Palace as its backdrop.

This event is being organized in collaboration with the 'Swachhta Senanis' and the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation from the Government of Gujarat, according to an official announcement.

Leading the cycling enthusiasts will be former Indian cricketer Rajesh Chauhan and heptathlete Nandini Agasara, joined by Member of Parliament Hemang Joshi and Samarjitsinhji Gaekwad from the Vadodara royal family.

Other notable attendees include Vadodara's Municipal Commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu and Superintendent of Police Narsimha Komar.

Rajesh Chauhan, who played 21 Tests and 35 ODIs for India between 1993 and 1998, will participate in this cycling event for the first time, riding alongside a large group of fitness advocates. He was part of India's celebrated spin trio during the 1990s, alongside Anil Kumble and Venkatapathy Raju.

Nandini Agasara, a bronze medalist in the heptathlon at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou and a gold medalist at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, will also be present.

In line with Fit India's motto, 'Fitness ki dose, aadha ghanta roz', the event aims to inspire citizens to embrace a healthier lifestyle. There will be dedicated zones for yoga, rope skipping, and various fitness activities suitable for all ages, including children.

Launched by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in December 2024, Fit India Sundays on Cycle has evolved into a mass movement, advocating for fitness, environmental cleanliness, and sustainability, with over 2.2 million participants across 200,000 locations.

Previous editions of the cycling event have seen participation from Indian Army personnel, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Goods & Services Tax Council, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and notable sports figures such as the Great Khali, Lovlina Borgohain, and many others.

Prominent celebrities including Ayushmann Khurana, Rohit Shetty, and Gul Panag have also shown their support for this initiative, earning the title of 'Fit India Icon.'
