Curtis Campher Achieves Unprecedented Feat

Ireland's all-rounder Curtis Campher has made history by becoming the first professional cricketer to take five wickets in five consecutive deliveries during a match. This remarkable achievement occurred while he was playing for the Munster Reds in a domestic T20 game against the North-West Warriors as part of the Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy.

Curtis Campher's Spectacular Bowling Performance

In a stunning display, Campher secured wickets in two separate overs. He began by dismissing two batsmen in the final two balls of the 12th over. Upon returning to bowl in the 14th over, he completed a hat-trick by taking three wickets with his first three deliveries. His efforts helped restrict the Warriors to a mere 88 runs while they were chasing a target of 189, leading to a comfortable victory for the Reds.

Campher's first wicket was Jared Wilson, who was dismissed for a duck, followed by Graham Hume (0) on the last ball of that over. In his next over, he took out the well-set Andy McBrine (28), Robbie Millar (0), and Josh Wilson (0), achieving the remarkable record of five wickets in five balls, a feat never before accomplished in professional cricket.

A Remarkable Comeback for Campher

Campher concluded his spell with impressive figures of 5 for 16 in just 2.3 overs. This match was particularly significant for him as it marked his return after a finger injury that had sidelined him from T20I and ODI series against the West Indies. Now back in form, he is expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming ODI series against England in September.

Interestingly, Campher had previously made headlines in 2021 when he took four wickets in four balls during a T20 World Cup match against the Netherlands. He remains one of Ireland's top all-rounders and is anticipated to be included in the squad for the forthcoming series.
