Cristiano Ronaldo Explains Decision to Stay with Al Nassr Amid Club World Cup Offers

Ronaldo's Commitment to Al Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned forward from Portugal, has shared insights into his choice to prolong his contract with Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, despite receiving multiple offers from teams participating in the ongoing Club World Cup.
Following the expiration of his previous contract in Riyadh, the five-time Ballon d'Or recipient opted to remain with Al Nassr until 2027. Prior to this decision, there were strong speculations about his potential departure from the club.
Prioritizing Rest and Preparation
The 40-year-old athlete explained that his decision to stay with Al Nassr was influenced by his desire for adequate rest and preparation for the upcoming long season. He stated, "I had some offers to play in the World Cup, but I think it didn't make sense because I prefer to have a good rest, a good preparation, because this season will be very long as it is the World Cup season at the end of the year," during an interview with Al-Nassr's official media team.
Ronaldo emphasized his commitment not only to Al Nassr but also to the national team, stating, "I want to be ready not only for Al-Nassr but also for the national team. So, this is why I decided to play the last game for the Nations League and not listen to anything. And of course, to be in this club, which I love."
Ronaldo's Continued Excellence
Ronaldo's tenure with Al Nassr will extend well past his 42nd birthday. Despite being 40 years old, he continues to perform at an elite level, having recently led Portugal to victory in the UEFA Nations League by defeating Spain in the final. With an impressive tally of 932 career goals, he is on the verge of reaching the milestone of 1,000 goals. At the club level, he has netted 794 goals, while contributing 138 goals for the Portuguese national team.
Although Ronaldo has secured the Arab Club Champions Cup with Al Nassr, he is still in pursuit of the SPL title, having finished as runners-up in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, and third in the 2024-25 season.
