Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar May Soon Visit India for Football Events
Potential Visit of Football Icons to India
Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar are on the radar to potentially visit India as the next football legends. Following last year's chaotic event in Kolkata, which drew significant backlash and legal inquiries, organizer Satadru Dutta has expressed his unwavering commitment to bring these stars to the country. In a conversation with Sports Now, Dutta stated, “Absolutely. I will bring Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and many others. Why should I stop?”
Despite the setbacks in Bengal, he emphasized that organizing international football events is his expertise. Dutta highlighted his extensive experience in bringing renowned football figures to India, asserting that the Kolkata incident should not overshadow his successful history. “I have brought Messi, Pelé, Maradona, Ronaldinho, Emiliano Martinez and many others to India over the last 15 years with a clean record,” he remarked.
He is determined to continue hosting significant events once he clears his name legally. The Messi event in Kolkata had attracted considerable attention but ended in turmoil due to allegations of crowd mismanagement, VIP interference, and security issues. Messi had to leave the venue earlier than planned, marking it as one of the most significant sporting controversies in Bengal recently.
Dutta has consistently argued that administrative shortcomings and political meddling were to blame for the chaos, claiming he was unfairly made a scapegoat. Additionally, the event faced backlash from fans regarding the steep ticket prices. In response, Dutta defended the pricing, explaining that many underestimate the financial demands of hosting one of the globe's top sports icons. “People need to understand the scale of such an event. Lionel Messi is not an ordinary celebrity,” he stated. “Bringing him to India involves huge costs, taxes, and payments in dollars.”
He also assured that the financial aspects were handled transparently. “I did everything through proper channels and transparent transactions,” he added. “If people want luxury-level experiences, there is obviously a price attached to it.” Despite the controversies surrounding Messi’s Kolkata tour, Dutta’s recent comments suggest he remains optimistic about India’s potential to host some of the biggest names in football in the future.
