Cricketers Celebrate Mother's Day
New Delhi [India] May 11: As the globe observes Mother's Day this Sunday, ICC Chairman Jay Shah along with various cricketers took to their social media platforms to express heartfelt appreciation for their mothers.
On his Instagram, Shah shared, "To all the mothers worldwide celebrating #MothersDay2025, I extend my gratitude for all that you do. I pay my respects to you today. To my mother, I am deeply thankful for your unwavering support and love throughout the years."
Since December 2024, Jay Shah has held the position of ICC Chairman. He was appointed President of the Asian Cricket Council in January 2021 and was re-elected in January 2024.
In 2019, he became the youngest secretary of the BCCI, and he was re-elected to this role in October 2022.
Shah began his cricket administration career in 2009 as an executive board member of the Central Board of Cricket in Ahmedabad and later became the joint secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association in September 2013.
Afghanistan's Rashid Khan also shared a touching message on Instagram, stating, "I love you and miss you, mom. Even though you are no longer with us, you will always be in my heart. I think of you every day and miss our long conversations. Happy Mother’s Day."
Rashid made history as the first Afghan player to participate in the IPL, debuting with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the inaugural match of IPL 2017.
After five seasons with SRH, he joined Gujarat Titans in 2022, playing a key role in their IPL championship win in their debut season.
In 2023, Rashid had his best IPL season yet, finishing second in the wickets tally with 27. In the current IPL, he has taken eight wickets in 11 matches, averaging 46.63.
Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan also shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying, "I was cradled in your lap as a baby, and now I find myself in your lap with my own child. Happy Mother’s Day, Meri maa."
Irfan Pathan has represented India in 173 matches, scoring 2821 runs, including 11 fifties and one century. He has also taken 301 wickets at an average of 29.85.
