Profile of Priya Saroj

Priya Saroj, a 26-year-old politician and lawyer, represents Machhlishahr in Parliament. She is the daughter of Tufani Saroj, a three-time MP and current MLA from Kerakat. Priya made her political debut in the 2024 general elections as a candidate for the Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav.


Born on November 23, 1998, in Varanasi, she completed her education at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pradesh University in Turkey and an LLB from Amity University in Noida. Following her studies, she practiced law at the Supreme Court of India.


Media reports indicate that Priya initially aspired to become a judge but chose to enter politics instead. In the 2024 elections, she successfully contested the Machhlishahr seat, previously held by her father, winning by a significant margin of 35,850 votes against BJP candidate BP Saroj. Her campaign focused on youth employment and women's empowerment.
